'Zelda: Twilight Princess'walkthrough success

Just a little note to say 'thanks' to everyone making use of our Zelda: Twilight Princess walkthrough.

It has become our most heavily trafficed walkthrough, and is on the way to defeating our current best seller, the LB LEGO Star Wars II Walkthrough and Strategy Guide.

While our Zelda: Twilight Princess guide will work for both Nintendo Wii and Gamecube versions of the game, it is our suspicion that many are waiting to get their hands on a Wii before playing it (and rightly so). With that being said, we know that our walkthrough will only continue to grow in popularity. So, thanks.

And, remember, if you need any help fighting your way through Hyrule, check out our walkthrough, as we've already helped thousands of people get through the game.

LB's Top 10 Underrated Games
Below you will find the Lunabean list of Top Ten Underrated games. While some may have received critical acclaim, they just didn't get the attention they deserved. Others, in our opinion, were just unfairly reviewed by critics.

Please note, because they are our underrated games, the list sticks to console titles, and they are all fairly recent games (the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube generation, if you will). Enjoy!

10 - The Operative: No One Lives Forever (PC, PS2)

In No One Lives Forever you play as Agent Cate Archer, a covert agent for UNITY, an international agency tasked with combating terrorism around the world. What's more, Cate, is witty, talented and drop dead gorgeous. With a flower-power 60s backdrop, think of NOLF as 007 Goldeneye meets Deus Ex meets Austin Powers.

Yes, the critics loved this one, but something about Agent Archer intimated the guys and prevented them from actually purchasing it in respectable numbers.

Check out the remaining 9 underrated games!

Nintendo raises annual earnings forecast…again
There's just no denying that Nintendo is, in the words of Big Goron, hot, hot, hot.

For the second time this year Nintendo has raised its annual earnings outlook. The company now expects its operating profits to reach 420 billion yen (US$ 3.7 billion) by the end of the fiscal year. This number reflects an 86% increase over the same period one year ago.

Rumors of the earnings upgrade caused Nintendo's stock to jump 7.8 percent yesterday. When the rumors were confirmed today, stocks slid a bit, down 3.5 percent to close at 66,400 yen.

While Nintendo reaps the rewards of its Wii gamble, Sony may be wallowing in the damage of its PS3 gamble. The electronics giant today reported its financial earnings, with mixed results. While the company, as a whole, posted a small operating profit, the games division nearly doubled its losses over last year, to 96.7 billion yen (US$ 841 million).

Adding salt to Sony's wound, Nintendo was able to lift its annual Wii sales target to 17.5 million units (up 1 million from previous reporting, and only 3 million shy of the Gamecube's total sales), while Sony had to admit PS3 sales will probably fall short of its 11 million target this business year.

'Sodomy' in 'Mass Effect'?
While one rarely looks to
TownHall.comfor editorial based on any sort of fact (after all, the site boasts Ann Coulter as a columnist), I have to admit Kevin McCullough's opinion onMass Effecthas, incredibly, lowered TownHall's credibility even further.

In a piece titled,The 'Sex Bot' Race for President, McCullough begs for a Presidential candidate to promise to sign an imaginary bill that would severely punish the creators of video games that include "simulated sex excess".

What video game's "simulated sex excess" has caused Mr. McCullough to champion the cause of video game censorship?Mass Effect. That's right. The game that provides a sex scene as scandalous as one you might have seen onNYPD Bluein 1994 is what has Mr. McCullough in such a tizzy.

Now, I'm not going to tear apart the many mis-truths and flat out lies McCullough tells about the game (GamePoliticsprovides that). However, I do feel the need to make this clear to every gamer and/or every gamer parent out there: The sex scene inMass Effectis no worse than something you would see in a PG-13 movie (and keep in mind, the game is rated M, for 17+). There is a momentary glimpse of a naked bum, but that's it. There is no "full digital nudity", as McCullough writes.

What's more, it is a cutscene. You do not control it. You create a character at the beginning of the game, and, near the end of the game you encounter the scene. The only "active" role you play in the scene is deciding with whom you are going to have sex. This is a far cry from McCullough's claim that one can customize the game so they can, "sodomize whatever, whoever, however, the game player wishes."

Also, there is no online play, so, the "virtual orgasmic rape" McCullough claims is a mere button push away, is also a no go.

What I find most interesting about the editorial is not the number of inaccuracies it contains, nor the fact that McCullough prefers violent war games to those that contain a benign sex scene. No, what I find most interesting is how telling such a piece is about this man's own psyche. There is no sodomy, nor is there rape, but the second he hears that there is a way for him to virtually control sex, this is where his mind goes? Hmmm.

Finally, if any of you dirty birds want to see what the scandal is really about, here's theMass Effectsex scene, uncensored (if you dare):

'Goldeneye' nearly complete for XBLA, then dumped
Call this the first gaming tragedy of 2008.

1Uphas bothconfirmed and destroyed the rumorsthat a handful of Rare's fantastic Nintendo 64 titles, (007 Goldeneye,Perfect Dark, andBanjo-Kazooieto name a few) would soon be made available for download on Xbox Live Arcade.

According to1Up's source, theGoldeneyeconversion was a mere two months away from completion when it had to be scrapped, as Microsoft (which now owns Rare) and Nintendo could not agree on "the financial side of things".

Want some salt for that wound?Kotakuis today reporting that it was Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata who axed the deal, despite a proposed deal from Microsoft which would have allowedGoldeneyeand other unnamed Rare titles (Jet Force Geminianyone?) on the Wii Virtual Console.

Heartbreaking, isn't it?

Penny-Arcade blasts McCullough

As we reported yesterday, conservative writer Kevin McCullough showed off his journalistic skills by writing a piece aboutMass Effectthat was so full of distortions and lies, it wasn't even worth a rebuttal.

With that being said, many did opt to contact McCollough with their opinions of the editorial, which led to ahilarious follow up, proving McCullough to be even more misinformed and more angry than previously thought, referring to his critics as perverted "Gamer-Nerds" who, "started hiding their collection of Hustler Magazine under their beds when they were eleven". Classy, no?

Anyway,Penny Arcadehas, perhaps, the best response to McColloughthat I've seen online. This, of course, comes a day after publishing acomic about the situationthat predicted McCollough's lame attempt at using this situation for personal gain.

Case closed.

Writers' Strike Good for Games Industry

CNN is reportingthat the Hollywood writers' strike could mean good things for the games industry.

Of course, the article is essentially speculating that the lack of good TVcouldmean that people will put down their remotes and pick up a controller. There is no real data to support this, but it does make some sense.

I think that all alternate forms of entertainment will do well due to the strike. Video rentals are sure to go up. Movie going may also see a spike (plus there are a ton of good movies out there right now). It would only follow that video games would also benefit.

Read the article.

Worst. Christmas. Ever. Phone Book for PS3

Hey, look at that box shaped like a PS3 box! Is that the present I've been asking for? I think I'll rip it open. Yay!!! Thanks for the PS3 mom and dad! *opens box*

WTF, yo! It's a friggin phone book!

Yes, this actually happened to a California teen. The parents are working with EB Games to replace the phone book.

Gamecock sorry about crashing Ken Levine's VGA speech
Today
Joystiqis reporting that game publisher Gamecock has apologized for its staffers running up on stage with leadBioShockdeveloper Ken Levine who was accepting the VGA forBioShockas Game of the Year. Yadda, yadda. Apology accepted, who cares, right?

The reason I'm posting this is because of the accompanying video. I just had to show it for all to see, so you could experience the bad taste Spike's VGAs leave in every gamer's mouth who isn't a 15 year old boy (my apologies to 15 year old boys who are also annoyed with this).

Seriously, they painted the winners of each category on the bodies of naked women? And, seriously, adults who work for a game publisher thought it would be funny to storm the stage? I guess showing the slightest bit of class when dealing with what we love is out of the question, eh? Gawd, I hate the VGAs.

New 'GTA: 4' Trailer: 'Move up, Ladies'
It's been out for a couple of days now, and I'm just posting it now. What of it? Well, here you go:

1) It's the holidays and we've been extremely busy publishing walkthroughs (ourSuper Mario GalaxyGame Guideis the latest).

2) I'm still bitter with Rockstar for postponing the release. Seeing a new trailer serves only as a bitter reminder that this title should be resting happily in my "done" pile.

3) Honestly, I'm not too impressed with the trailer. There is no gameplay, and there's only so much thuggish storyline I can care about without actually getting my hands dirty.

With that being said, here's the new trailer. Enjoy…if you can!

'Duke Nukem Forever' Teaser and 10 years of history

It's been over 10 years since 3D Realms announcedDuke Nukem Forever. So long ago, in fact, that when it was announced, I couldn't legally drink!

The teaser was made by some 3D Realms employees to surprise the other employees at their Christmas party. Management thought the teaser so great that they went ahead and released it to the world. Thanks, I guess.

For a little history on the game, and everything that has happened in the game-o-sphere/world since, you should check outthisbreak down.

For the 2001 official trailer (a mere 6 years ago),go here. You know, that would've been a great game in '01 and they could've put out another one by now!
