'Zelda: Twilight Princess'walkthrough success

Just a little note to say 'thanks' to everyone making use of our Zelda: Twilight Princess walkthrough.

It has become our most heavily trafficed walkthrough, and is on the way to defeating our current best seller, the LB LEGO Star Wars II Walkthrough and Strategy Guide.

While our Zelda: Twilight Princess guide will work for both Nintendo Wii and Gamecube versions of the game, it is our suspicion that many are waiting to get their hands on a Wii before playing it (and rightly so). With that being said, we know that our walkthrough will only continue to grow in popularity. So, thanks.

And, remember, if you need any help fighting your way through Hyrule, check out our walkthrough, as we've already helped thousands of people get through the game.

Donate to Comic Relief, get a'LEGO Star Wars 2'cheat AND free walkthrough

For those of you who are neither British, nor in the know (don't worry, I was neither of these things ten minutes ago), today is Red Nose Day, a day designated by Comic Relief as one where they provide the entertainment, while we provide the donations to their poverty-busting charity.

While I'm bummed at this moment that we don't get BBC One, as that is where most of the entertainment is being provided (and it's a fantastic line-up), I am pleased that I can help out in my own way by donating via the Traveller's Tales Games website. In return for my donation of ANY amount, I will receive a cheat code for LEGO Star Wars II which will place a funny red nose on each of the game's characters.

Because we so applaud the efforts of Comic Relief here at Lunabean.com, we will add to your funny red nose our downloadable LEGO Star War II Walkthrough and Strategy Guide for free.

In order to claim your guide, please forward your donation receipt to us at info @ lunabean.com with the subject line "Red Nose Day". Please omit any personal details found within the receipt before sending it our way. Let us know if you'd like the text-only (printer-friendly) or screenshot version of the guide, and we'll send it off ASAP.

Please note, this offer is only good through today, Friday, March 16th, 2007.

LB's Top 10 Underrated Games
Below you will find the Lunabean list of Top Ten Underrated games. While some may have received critical acclaim, they just didn't get the attention they deserved. Others, in our opinion, were just unfairly reviewed by critics.

Please note, because they are our underrated games, the list sticks to console titles, and they are all fairly recent games (the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube generation, if you will). Enjoy!

10 - The Operative: No One Lives Forever (PC, PS2)

In No One Lives Forever you play as Agent Cate Archer, a covert agent for UNITY, an international agency tasked with combating terrorism around the world. What's more, Cate, is witty, talented and drop dead gorgeous. With a flower-power 60s backdrop, think of NOLF as 007 Goldeneye meets Deus Ex meets Austin Powers.

Yes, the critics loved this one, but something about Agent Archer intimated the guys and prevented them from actually purchasing it in respectable numbers.

Check out the remaining 9 underrated games!

A creepier version of'Resident Evil 4'
I would easily place Resident Evil 4 on my list of top ten video games. It was beautiful, creepy, challenging and a hell of a lot of fun. I will forever have etched in my brain the experience of innocently entering the game's 19th century Spanish village, then suddenly being cornered by 19th century zombies with 21st century chainsaws. A lot of swearing and nervous laughter followed.

For this reason I am conflicted regarding this video of the "Hooked Man Version" of RE4. According to HardestBoss this version was ditched because it was "too paranormal" for the Resident Evil plot. However, it was also this version that made Capcom's Shinji Mikami warn gamers, "Don't pee your pants".

I say I'm conflicted because, of course, I want more RE4. However, it was perfect as is, and, for some reason, baby dolls with ankle-slashing knives just doesn't seem to fit. Still, it's fun to watch:

Oh, and if you haven't played RE4 yet, get on it! Here's the LB RE4 Walkthrough and Strategy Guide

Wii Supply Short in

Filed under: Mind Toys — admin @ 3:00 pm

Wii Supply Short in the UK

The BBCis reportingthat getting a Wii this Holiday season will be quite difficult.

Although Nintendo has upped production, it still cannot meet global demand. To help the Queen's people find the console some industrious people have set uphttp://wii-consoles.co.uk/.

For those of you in the States who are looking for it, you can trythis Wii locator.

Good luck out there!

Xbox Live is 5ive Celebrations

On November 15 Xbox Live will turn five. They grow up so fast *tears*.

To celebrate, Microsoft is holdingall sorts of events.

Of particular interest to me is thePlay and Win Sweepstakes.

In addition, Microsoft has announced that for 48 hours beginning at 12:01 am on Nov. 15th, gamers can downloadCarcassonnefor free AND that it will be giving 500 MS points to anybody who joined Xbox Live in 2002 (that's me!).

Want some more excitement? Hold on to your hats! Original Xbox games will be available for download beginning on Dec. 4. The titles mentioned so far:Halo,Psychonauts,Crimson Skies, andFable. Each of these games will cost 1,200 MS points ($15).

Now is that a birthday celebration or what?

30+ years of gaming up for grabs on eBay
Have US$9,000? Want to blow it on 30+ years and 1,768 pieces of video game nostalgia? Then I have an eBay auction for you!

Check out the auction here.

The consoles: Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Atari Lynx, Coleco ColecoVision, Coleco Gemini, Coleco Telstar, Commodore 64/128, GCE Vectrex, Mattel Aquarius, Mattel Intellivision, Mattel Odyssey 2, Microsoft Xbox, Microsoft Xbox 360, APF TV Fun, Miscellaneous Handheld Games, Miscellaneous PC Games, SC Eight Thousand, Sega Pods, Miscellaneous TV Games, NEC Turbo Duo, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo NES, Nintendo Nintendo 64, Nintendo Super NES, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Nintendo Wii, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Game Gear, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Sega Saturn, SNK Neo Geo, SNK Neo Geo Pocket, Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation 2, Texas Instruments TI 99/4A, VM Labs Nuon.

The games: I can't begin to list them all, and eBay doesn't have the space, so check it all out here,http://videogames.neocurve.com/list.aspx.

I have to say, I am intrigued by the extremely rare Christmas version ofNiGHTS. Too bad it would take $9,000 (plus $1500 in shipping costs) to get my hands on it.

Finally, it's worth pointing out that there's no PS3 on the block. Did this person never buy one, or do they love it so much they just can't part with it. I have my suspicions that the console never made it into the family.

Gamecube'Zelda: Twilight Princess'in stores today — Wii walkthrough will work

Today is a huge day for Gamecube gamers in the US, as today is the day when Gamecube version of 'The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess' begins trickling onto store shelves. Booya!

I say 'trickling' because a) the game just shipped yesterday, so some stores won't receive their copies until later this week, and b) there is a rumored (although unconfirmed) shortage of 'Zelda: TP'.

You may be wondering whether our 'Zelda: Twilight Princess' Walkthrough and Strategy Guide for the Wii will work for the Gamecube version. The answer, is yes, but with some stipulations.

First, in the 'Zelda: Twilight Princess' walkthrough we do give controls specific to the Wii. However, this is only done because the Wii controls are so new, and Gamecube gamers should have no problem following the game's controller instructions ('Zelda' games have never been known to have difficult controls).

Second, the Wii version of the game is actually a mirrored version of the Gamecube game. Nintendo did this so Link, who is normally a lefty, would have his sword in his right hand for Wii gamers, making for a more natural Wii controller movement. This mirroring means, when using our 'Zelda: Twilight Princess' guide, you'll have to go left when we say right, and east when we say west (and the other way around). As long as you're aware of this, you should have no trouble using the guide.

'South Park' takes on

Filed under: Mind Toys — admin @ 3:00 pm

'South Park' takes on 'Guitar Hero' tonight
The kids ofSouth Parkhave played their fair share of video games, and tonight they will be taking onGuitar Heroin an episode oh so creatively titledGuitar Queer-O.

According to the Comedy Central Press Release, Stan's superiorGuitar Heroskills damage his relationship with Kyle when Stan realizes he'd be more successful with another partner.

As long as we don't see a return of Eric'sWorld of Warcraftpoop bucket, I'm all sorts of excited.

On another note, those of you who are looking forward to the release ofRock Star(and who isn't), stop by your local Best Buy for a chance to play it in store. Jer and I had some fun yesterday at our local Best Buy, and I, apparently, have some pretty rockin' drum skills. Pretty soon I'll have to ditch Jer and seek out a new partner. Of course, I'll wait and see how it all works out for Stan and Kyle tonight before making any decisions.

Obsessed with the Guitar Hero video game, Stan and Kyle make a great team and score record points when they play. Stan realizes he has the potential for enormous success if he plays with another partner. He and Kyle break up but, without his friend, Stan quickly folds under the pressure of being a rockstar.

It's official — Bungie branches off from Microsoft
While rumors have been swirling for a couple of weeks now, Bungie Studios and Microsoft made it official today: Bungie is now an independent entity, free from the grasp of Bill Gates and friends. Well, sort of…

Bungie is now a "privately held independent company, Bungie, LLC, in which Microsoft will hold a minority equity interest." Microsoft will retain theHalointellectual property rights, and first right of refusal of publication of any future Bungie creations. In exchange, the people at Bungie are now free to let their creative juices flow, work on projects on which they want to work, and work at a pace with which they are most comfortable.

All in all, it sounds like a everybody wins (particularly the gamers of the world) situation.

Nintendo raises annual earnings

Filed under: Mind Toys — admin @ 2:00 pm

Nintendo raises annual earnings forecast…again
There's just no denying that Nintendo is, in the words of Big Goron, hot, hot, hot.

For the second time this year Nintendo has raised its annual earnings outlook. The company now expects its operating profits to reach 420 billion yen (US$ 3.7 billion) by the end of the fiscal year. This number reflects an 86% increase over the same period one year ago.

Rumors of the earnings upgrade caused Nintendo's stock to jump 7.8 percent yesterday. When the rumors were confirmed today, stocks slid a bit, down 3.5 percent to close at 66,400 yen.

While Nintendo reaps the rewards of its Wii gamble, Sony may be wallowing in the damage of its PS3 gamble. The electronics giant today reported its financial earnings, with mixed results. While the company, as a whole, posted a small operating profit, the games division nearly doubled its losses over last year, to 96.7 billion yen (US$ 841 million).

Adding salt to Sony's wound, Nintendo was able to lift its annual Wii sales target to 17.5 million units (up 1 million from previous reporting, and only 3 million shy of the Gamecube's total sales), while Sony had to admit PS3 sales will probably fall short of its 11 million target this business year.

Zelda cupcakes
The combination of it being a slow video game news day and my stomach rumbling with hunger has forced me to post the most delicious Zelda cake solution ever created.

Mmm…imagine all of the 8-bit possibilities? Mario cupcakes for my birthday, please.
